“Born and raised in DeSoto County, I understand and appreciate the value of public education. My upbringing was similar to that of the children in DeSoto County today. Financially, times were tough and we appreciated the little things.   The experiences that I had in the schools of DeSoto County gave me the foundation for life. From Mrs. Bettie McAnly my first grade teacher, to Coach Richard Bowers my High School football coach, teachers impacted my life and put me on the path for success.

 

 The boy that Mrs. McAnly taught in the first grade earned three college degrees. That ninth grade boy that Coach Bowers took an interest in had a twenty year career as a high school football coach. As a matter of fact, five of those years were as the Head Football Coach at DeSoto County High School.

 

It is my desire to see the DeSoto County School District impact children positively and put them on the path to success.  The families, employees, and all of DeSoto County deserve a high achieving school district that offers the same opportunities that I had.”
